Industry Overview
From all outward appearances, the school vans you see traveling down the road each morning looks pretty much the same as it always has – it’s still yellow and its main purpose is to deliver children to and from school each day. What’s happening on the inside, however, has changed tremendously.
Today’s vehicles are safer, smarter, more connected and environmentally cleaner than ever before. GPS, road map and tracking apps and other technology now provide important timely data that can enhance safety, increase efficiencies and reduce costs.
Over 700,000 school vehicles transport 30 million students to and from school each day in North America, providing nearly 10 billion trips each year. Nearly sixty-six percent of all school vehicles are owned and operated by public school districts looking for creative solutions to staffing, training and maintenance challenges. This doesn’t account for human services agencies and their transportation requests. The expectations of today’s parents have changed, as well. With safety at the forefront of their minds, they are putting increased pressure on school boards to upgrade their fleets with cleaner alternative fuels and new technology for added security.
Mass Quality Ride takes pride in our record for safely transporting children to and from school. We view the challenges faced by school districts and increased parent expectations as opportunities to leverage our reputation to broaden our customer base and provide even more students with the safest school transportation available.
